Medium: Crayon on canvas
Work: Crayons are some of the first artistic materials we draw with (and sometimes accidentally eat) as children. My work is the expression of this elementary coloring tool all grown up. Some pieces are what you would expect an adult’s crayon work to be — somewhat geometric and inside the lines. Other pieces are decidedly outside the lines, just like a child’s scribble, but in their own adult way. I’ve always visualized emotions or atmospheres as colors and shapes. I feel free to explore these interpretations through various melting techniques while keeping one foot firmly grounded in the nostalgic comfort of colored wax.
